How did you learn to cut curly hair?

My main growth as a Curly Styllist came from self study and reading many books...mainly Curly Girl by Lorraine Massey. I have also taken private classes by my mentors and have learned much by trial and error. I have been a stylist for over 25 years and have curly hair myself, so I have a sense for what people with curly hair want and need.

What's your technique?

I cut on dry hair and how I do that is reserved for each person as I consult with them on their goals and vision for what they desire their hair to do. I help each of my clients to have a goal for their hair and my cut helps with 50% of what can be done with the other 50% being what they do at home on their own. I will help with their daily routine.

What products do you like best?

Deva for the hair care. Goldwell for hair color. Difiaba color as well for hair color.

Any advice for other stylists?

Do not treat curly hair with straight hair techniques and products as it requires a new perspective on how to cut and treat the hair that is not taught in many schools or advanced training.

What's the hottest curly trend?

Unique curl plactment that is custom made for each person with no straight lines on the perimeter. Curl Structure has curls to enhance the eyes and lips of a woman which are two of the most looked at features on a woman.
