How did you learn to cut curly hair?

I have curly hair. I've paid attention to what works and what doesn't on my own hair. I've been watching stylists I've trained under and with for years.

What's your technique?

It changes depending on the texture of the curl. No curl is the same. Sometimes, you can cut wavy curls the same way as straight hair and get a great look. With more kinky, coarse curls I like to cut each curl individually and build the shape. Customizing my approach and really addressing each clients' wants and needs is what keeps my curly girls coming back.

What products do you like best?

Bumble & bumble Grooming Creme, Defining and Calming Creme DevaCurl Set it Free and Mist-er Right. Kevin Murphy Motion Lotion and Easy Rider. I love cocktailing and experimenting.

Any advice for other stylists?

Educate.

What's the hottest curly trend?

No trend is cooler than confidence in your texture.
