How did you learn to cut curly hair?

When I was a child. I was 11 when my mom died and had no one to do my hair. Not even salons in the area could tame my curly locks. I had to learn the hard way to do my own hair. A stylist in the 80's once cut a bob and I had to run all the home after. I took the long way home where walk through so no one would see my gigantic TRIANGLE! I became very good at it too! Now I own not only the only salon in town that can do curly hair. It's the only salon in the area that can ROCK CURLY HAIR!

What's your technique?

Wet or dry depending on the texture and density of the curl I'm working with. Scissor or razor depending on the style the client wants and again what I'm working with.

What products do you like best?

Redken Ringlet & Redken Fresh Curls. I also like Pureology Super Smooth Shampoo & Conditioner for very curly unruly hair.

Any advice for other stylists?

Very curly hair should be blown out first before a cut. You want to be able to control and dominate the hair your working with. Hair should never control you!

What's the hottest curly trend?

Soft & touchable hair!
