How did you learn to cut curly hair?

I learned many years ago from my cousin Teresa who has been a stylist and educator for several top manufacturers, and schools. I was trained on the Deva Curl technique about 5 years ago, through the salon i was working at the time.

What's your technique?

It depend on if they are going to wear their hair curly all the time, or if they plan to blow it out sometimes. I will use a no tension horizontal cut with slight elevation. But if they are going to wear curl only then I use the Deva technique.

What products do you like best?

I like both Deva Curl Products, and Alfaparf Nutri Seduction System. I also use and love Moroccan Oil Curl Creme. For my clients that want to tame thier curls I use Keratin Complex. My clients love it!!

Any advice for other stylists?

You have to respect the curls, if you guide them and not force them you will have a great looking result.

What's the hottest curly trend?

Beach Wave. It can be a Perm or a set!
