How did you learn to cut curly hair?

I have curly hair. The majority of our clientele has curly textured hair

What's your technique?

There are a lot of different textures when it comes to curly hair. Sometimes you will have up to three textures just in one head. Technique varies from the type of curl texture. On loser curls we section off the hair for a regular hair cut. Start at nape and proceed up the hair shaft pulling each section down to previous cut section. On tighter curls ( depending on ethnicity) you will need to blow dry straight and then cut the hair.

What products do you like best?

We love products like Moroccain Oil that are sulfate/paraben free. Curly hair is normally dryer than straight hair so that is really important. Unite, and some of Alfaparf products are salon go to's.

Any advice for other stylists?

Textured hair is very vast. There are so many different hair textures. Knowing what works for a clients specific texture is key to curly hair clients.

What's the hottest curly trend?

Curly summer fun hair embracing curls. Funky loose curls bigger the better. Or silken out and fighting the frizz with a Kertain smoothing system.
