How did you learn to cut curly hair?
i have curly/wavy hair myself as well as all 4 of my children do. I started cutting their hair before i went to hair school, poor guinea pigs...I have learned so much about product and texture being all of their hair is so different from each others as well as being different from my own.I love curly hair in all shapes and forms and love helping people to embrace theirs and teach them how to love it and tame it.
What's your technique?
I use many different techniques. There isnt quite one, being that texture plays a huge part in the reaction to cutting and styling. This leaves each experience unique in itself. Thats why i ask alot of questions about personal care and help people understand why their curly hair may not do the same things as Bettys curly hair.
What products do you like best?
I work in an exclusive Aveda Salon, so i have been working with this product for many years with my own hair as well as others. I have many suggestions to offer but the Brilliant line by Aveda is for textured hair and the have a few specialty products like Be Curly enhancer and smoother. They are great natural products with botanical and essential oil aromas so if ur looking for synthetic watermelon you may not enjoy the smells, but results are great if used correctly.
Any advice for other stylists?
Take a moment to ask questions and really listen and you will always be successful in creating a great head turner!
What's the hottest curly trend?
I think the stacked bobs are lovely just because "Poshes" are straight dosent mean the curly girl cant rock it! And i love long and short styles of all kinds...Curly hair is so versa u just need the right coach!
