How did you learn to cut curly hair?

On myself and my family. They all have curly hair. Also, I worked with a lot of curly stylists when I was training. I also did a lot of training with black women. Training with different textures helped me learn to cut curly hair.

What's your technique?

A lot of times, I look at how they wear it. If they wear it straight and curly, I cut it straight and dry. If they only wear it curly, I cut it wet. You get more of a precision haircut by cutting it straight and dry.

What products do you like best?

I like the curl segment within Goldwell. I specifically like Curl Kick, alight Jelly. For finer curls, I like Goldwell Dynamic Loop.

Any advice for other stylists?

I like to layer rather than cocktail. I layer heavier products over lighter products. Start with a smaller amount of product and add more. Also, I prefer air drying rather than diffusing. The more you touch it, the frizzier it gets during the drying process.

What's the hottest curly trend?

It's about disheveled and broken curls. It's not contrived. It's very hippiesh.
