How did you learn to cut curly hair?

By experimenting on my boyfriend's hair in high school, I learned that cutting very little hair can make a big change in shape.

What's your technique?

I always listen to my client talk about their hair. They know their curly hair and all its quirks. I assess the wave/curl pattern while hair is dry, cut wet, dry naturally, adjust cut if necessary.

Any advice for other stylists?

Experience and talent are everything.

What's the hottest curly trend?

Geometric shapes and - always - whatever looks best on the client.
