How did you learn to cut curly hair?

Honestly, my clients got me there...The demand was high, and I was tired of running into my clients outside the salon with just a frizzy mess. (I live in Maryland so the summers can be down right brutal with humidity) That got me to research why hair frizzes, which led me to understanding the do's and dont's of curly hair. Cutting and styling techniques were the ovbious conclusion to this tale. Now that I have opened my own salon, my clients have a little hair haven to call there own as well as my stylist, who love and respect the curls just as I do.

What's your technique?

I have been trained by all of the best curly concepts out there. Some teach you to cut wet and some of them teach the dry cutting method, but for me, cutting the curl dry has been the best technique for me. I think of it as cutting a Bonsai tree, Mr. Meoggi-son. The other technique is to cut with love and understanding. This may sound odd, but it holds true for me.

What products do you like best?

Numbero uno is Deva Concepts!!!! Kevin Murphy is great as well, for both companies utilize natural botanicals. Leaving out Sulfates, Silicones and Parabens.

Any advice for other stylists?

R E S P E C T the curl!!! It will bite you hard if you don't.

What's the hottest curly trend?

Accept your curly ways, you are beautiful as you are!!! Curl=Professional, Curl=Passion, Curly is the new straight!!!!
