How did you learn to cut curly hair?

I learned to cut hair using the Deva Curl method in 2008, while working at Capella Salon in Los Angeles. I saw so many beautiful curly girls walk out of there I had to learn for myself how to master naturally curly locks!

What's your technique?

I use the Deva Curl cutting technique, cutting each curl dry one curl at a time to create the best shape for each client's facial structure and curl pattern.

Any advice for other stylists?

Cut for the client's face shape and lifestyle. Teach each client how to recreate the look at home for everyday wear and they will be yours for life!

What's the hottest curly trend?

Going short! I've had many clients recently chopping off 10 or more inches from their locks and feeling so liberated for Spring. My favorite cut right now is cutting the sides and back short with a disconnected longer top that the client can wear pinned up or down and curly for different looks.
