How did you learn to cut curly hair?

I began my curly hair journey in Yorkville @ a curly hair salon. I moved on from that salon and was educated in NYC at Deva in Lorraine Massey's last Curlaboration. I now work independently as a stylist and curl educator providing curly hair one on one coaching sessions.

What's your technique?

For sure dry cut is my preference (thank you Deva) with no comb to deal with shape. But for weight and balance I love the OUIDAD technique.

What products do you like best?

Deva, Milkshake 12 Effects, Mixed Chicks Leave In Condotioner and Treatment, AG Fast Food, OUIDAD and Soma's Reconstruct. All equally great products...and love the way each product line in interchangeable to customize your curly client's style!

Any advice for other stylists?

Always do a thorough consultation! It is so important. You are setting the pace for what could be a lifetime client. I always repeat back to the client what they have requested to make sure we are on the same page. And!!!!...never be fearful to refuse to do a service on client's who have damaged hair or a service you don't think is suitable for their lifestyle...your client will appreciate your honesty.

What's the hottest curly trend?

I still love the tipping! But honestly going back to natural is the best and hottest curl trend..work with what you have, the curls you are born with and everything else will fall into place!
