Not a shampoo I would reach for on a regular basis. It left my hair with that "squeaky clean" feel which i didn't really like because I'm used to cleansing conditioners leaving my hair soft after a wash rather than stripped and squeaky. I would probably only use it once a month to get rid of product build up, but it does need a lot of conditioning to recover softness and moisture.

Really liked the Bigen Shampoo, it has a light smell, and nice suds. My hair was clean and soft while washing it, easy to get my fingers through it, after rinsing my hair was not as soft as I wanted, but not a big deal since I always condition anyway. I would buy this again, especially at this price.

Very good shampoo. The most suds I ever got from a nonsulfate shampoo. Surprised that my hair was not stripped after I rinsed out. My hair felt soft afterwards.

  • I have to say that this shampoo worked well on my 2A hair. In the past I have had the problem of my hair feeling dry especially my ends and is never as soft as I would like. This shampoo worked well on cleansing my hair with no build up as well as making my hair really soft. The smell is nice without being overwhelming. I will continue to use this product in the future and recommend it to others.

  • This product was okay on my hair. I have 2A hair, dry & thick. For the first couple of days, I actually felt it made my hair softer, but after that, I saw no difference from the other shampoos I use.

  • I have 3c hair. This product was very gentle on my hair, left my curl pattern undisturbed and I didn't have to use too much of the product to create a lather. The smell is a very light floral smell, not overwhelming. When my curls where stretched out to nearly straight, they bounced back quickly when using this shampoo. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNKQ2ux3sgY

I have short, 2C hair and this shampoo made my hair feel very clean. I'd never tried a product with rice water before and I was excited to see how it affected my hair. So far I like this shampoo, I'd use it once a week or maybe every other week.

I was actually surprised by the results from this shampoo! I did not like smell and it had a thin consistency so I was not expecting much but when my hair dried it felt healthy and soft! This shampoo has made my regularly dry hair shiny and moisturized. My biggest and only complaint is that you have to use kind of a lot of it each time. Great product though especially for the price!

It is nice because I don't shampoo often as my hair is short and I am trying to let it grow out. I do like the feeling of clean and soft after shampoo but for some reason it is more drying. I had to keep massaging my scalp to get more oil out for the hair and sometime I need to put a bit of herbal hair oil.

I received this product to review. My scalp felt very clean and the product smelled very nice. However, it was slightly drying and did not help with detangling my hair. With a good deep condition to follow, I would definitely say this product is good for a clean scalp.

This shampoo had a lot more lather than I expected. It does smell good and didn't strip my hair, on the other hand it does not remove any build up. Over all a good shampoo that I would buy again.

I liked the fact that this really left my hair with that sweaky clean feel almost like a clarifying shampoo, but it didn't detangle my hair as it states it would and i didn't feel it moisturized it. My hair clumped at the end and I got alot of shed hairs it was a big clump of hair. not happy with that, as it is, my hair is very fine and thin.

I have loose curls and relatively fine hair. I found that Bigen shampoo was too heavy for me. It was hard to rinse out and left my scalp feeling oily. It defined my curls fairly well, but the scalp oiliness put me off. In addition, the chemical smell was too strong; it made my eyes sting. I think this product is ideal for someone who needs a "heavy" shampoo - i.e. someone with a dry scalp that needs conditioning or someone that tends towards frizzier curls that need definition.

I received a bottle of this to review - I liked it for the most part. It had a nice apple smell (to me, I see some said it was floral), it had a nice lather, and I didn't need to use tons to feel like it got my hair clean. It felt moisturizing and I didn't feel like I was pulling out handfuls of hair when I detangled with a conditioner. I didn't notice an increase in frizz or flyaways after styling compared to my usual shampoo.

I like the smell and feel of this product while shampooing with it. However, my hair felt very dry and matted after rinsing out. I am not fond of a shampoo that forces you to use their conditioner by stripping moisture out of your hair during the cleansing process. After giving this product another go, I unfortunately, can not say That it worked any better for me. It still seems to strip all moisture from my hair and my hair felt tangled, dry and matted after rinsing it out. I needed to do a deep conditioning treatment to bring my hair to softness and being tangle free.

I was really surprised with this shampoo. I tend to get product build up throughout the week using a curling creme and this definitely made my hair feel soft and clean afterwards--something that my current shampoo doesn't do a good job without spending a long time rinsing it out. Smelt good. Would use it again!

It says 'sulfate free', so I was very disappointed when it produced a huge amount of lather. All I read says that you can't get that much lather without some sort of sulfate, so I won't use it again.

I think this shampoo is great. It doesn't strip my hair down, but it still foams up. My hair does feel a bit dry after washing with this (that's why it's 4 curls, not 5), but nothing that a great conditioner can't fix. The scent isn't overwhelming, just a light floral scent. It washes out and doesn't stick around. My curls were nice and shiny the next day, and they formed really well. The shampoo provides a really great base for my other products to form my curls. I'd definitely recommend trying this product. The price isn't bad at all!

I like how I can gentle detangle my hair with my fingers, but I did not like how I couldn't detangle with a wide toothed comb. however, the bigen shampoo left my hair feeling very clean, soft, and it didn't feel stripped. I like that it's sulfate free. overall, I like the fact that it was very gentle on my hair:))

This shampoo is the bomb.com!!!! I was surprised at how much it lathered up with only using a small amount. I'm a 4c transitioner and its hard to find products that work with both textures of my hair. This shampoo does exactly what it says it would. It cleanses gently, helps me to detangle my hair faster and adds moisture to my tresses. I think I may have found a new staple shampoo!

The shampoo promises to detangle, clean and restore moisture..... I really liked this shampoo.....it did not take much to lather up and had a nice floral scent. I would not say it detangled my hair, but seemed less harsh than sulfate shampoos. I would use this product again....just not on a daily basis. And def would use deep conditioner or a very moisterizing conditioner to follow up with.

This shampoo was not at all what I expected. I read the ingredients and thought that since it contained no sulfates that it would be low or no lather. It actually produced a huge amount of lather that was a little difficult to rinse out. I felt like it stripped all of the moisture and oils out of my hair. I needed a lot of conditioner after using this shampoo. This might be a good shampoo for someone with straight "normal" hair, but it just did not work for me and my dry curls.

I don't use shampoo usually. Lately, I have been wanting to find one that I can use periodically to help remove product build-up. Not surprisingly, the instructions for the Deep Conditioner in the line recommends using this shampoo first before applying the DC. (My review for the DC will be posted later). The shampoo has a nice fresh scent. It's a bit strong, but I liked it. It lathers well with just a small amount of product used (about the size of a quarter for my APL-when-wet 3b hair). My hair felt clean but not stripped after I rinsed it. For regular use, I don't find this shampoo to be moisturizing or detangling enough to be used without a rinse-out conditioner after it. Since I was doing the DC next, I wasn't concerned about combing my hair after using the shampoo. I am glad that I tried this product and I will gladly use it in the future when I need to shampoo.

This shampoo is ok. I was able to detangle while washing my hair. My hair didn't feel stripped and got my scalp clean. It's not as moisturizing as I had hoped for my hair. Probably won't replace what I normally use, but if I was out of my regular product, I would use it again.

The shampoo promises to detangle, clean and restore moisture. With a little product I had enough because it makes a lot of lather and was a hard thing to remove later. So use a small amount. Detangled only half of my hair, the area of the ends was a little hard. No moisturization felt, but it was not dry. I would like to their products to be with more natural ingredients, or at least with sunflower seed oil and rice water essence as first ingredients. I would use for washed between cowashes, not for daily use

The Bigen Protect and Repair shampoo was a pleasant surprise for my Type 4 A B & C hair. The product has a thicker consistency than most shampoos, and the smell is not too overpowering. I shampooed, rinsed and repeated with this product, which I almost never do because doing so tends to make my hair dry and brittle and terribly tangled. I was able to finger comb my hair without my fingers catching in it too badly, and that was before using the Bigen Deep Conditioner. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 curl rating is because I am still hoping there is a shampoo out there that will give me unbelievable slip and moisture. This one did come close though.

This is one of those products that works fine but doesn't live up to its claims. I'd recommend this for a weekly deep-cleaning to remove product build-up. As for detangling? No. I definitely have needed a conditioner or detangler when I have used this shampoo to unsnarl my curls. It didn't add moisture either. The brand's claim to fame is an ingredient in rice water, which has supposedly been a beauty secret for Japanese women. Obviously it's easier to detangle straight hair, which most Japanese women have, than curly hair. Also, the scent of this shampoo is not pleasant. I can't describe it--it's just weird and not good. But the scent doesn't last at all and is easily overcome by conditioner.

Was actually pleasantly surprised at how well this shampoo worked. It is sulfate free, but still I don't know why I didn't have high expectations for it. Anyway, it cleansed my hair and scalp very well without leaving it dry. I could finger detangle with it which is a bonus. The bottle claims it leaves hair tangle free, and FOR ME that is true. It's not like other shampoos that matte up your hair upon contact... Nice lather, smelled alright. Only reason it's not a 5 is because I reserve that rating for products that make me switch from my holy grails. Not gonna abandon what I currently use, but would recommend to anyone.
