Here’s a way to make sure you get your clients to return and give them something. Along with what ever gift you want to give them for the holiday season also toss in a gift certificate or a discount card and make sure you have an expiration date on it. I like to put 4 months from the time of receiving. Not only odes it give them a nice way to start off the new year but it gives them a thank-you discount for returning.

I have business cards printed up with different discounts from a mens cut to a highlight. That way I can toss the appropriate card into their gift bag when exiting my salon.

My experience with this type of cut for curly hair (I learned this in NZ but it does not have a ‘copyrighted’ name here), is that the tail simply comes from Stylists (and Clients) being a little unwillingly to sacrifice ANY length - usually due to disastrous experiences in the past.

As the nape hair is generally a little straighter and grows ‘geographically’ lower than any other section of the head, it ends up dipping down further in a tail-like fashion over time. I try to convince my curly-haired clients to allow me to softly trim this tail (following the lines of each curl formation), to remove and reshape the tail. This ensures that the ends are always healthy and that the tail does not keep getting thiner and longer as time goes by.
